Portland, Oregon Dec 16, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - Retired judge, military officer, and longtime legal professional Don Bennett release The State of the Union: A Big Mess, a provocative and unflinching exploration of what he views as the troubling moral and political decline of the United States. Drawing on a lifetime of public service, Bennett presents a personal examination of deceit, misinformation, and cultural shifts that, in his perspective, have contributed to what he calls a national crisis of truth.

About the Book

In The State of the Union: A Big Mess, Bennett explores themes of lies, deception, distortion, and governmental misconduct ideas he believes have shaped modern political and social unrest.

Chapter 2 focuses specifically on the nature and impact of falsehoods, while other chapters examine events, public narratives, and what Bennett describes as systemic dishonesty within government and media. He also critiques high-profile public statements and cultural flashpoints, raising concerns about the long-term consequences of misinformation becoming precedent.

Through the books tone and its intentionally striking cover imagery designed to convey anger and fear, Bennett aims to evoke reflection and urgency in readers. His central message: that truth matters, and that Americas future depends on confronting uncomfortable realities.
